There are 3 levels of performance for you to be competitive about;

– Me

– We

– Us

Me = my performance; What am I working towards? How can I improve? Why am I doing what I am doing?

We = my team’s performance; What are we working towards? How effective are we? Why are we doing what we are doing?

Us = the company’s mission; What are we all working towards? What are we contributing to the world? What is our company culture?

If you are focused on yourself at the expense of the team, you won’t achieve as much? If you are focused on the team’s goal’s at the neglect of your own, you need to carve out some time for your own growth? If you have no alignment to the shared purpose you need to find out what the big global purpose is.

Operating in elite sport, I needed to develop skills on all levels;

  • To be the best at working with athletes
  • To deliver to the team’s needs, develop the team capability, behave in a way that supported and challenged
  • To align with the bigger mission, be that to achieve medals or even bigger! What are the medals for? We aligned to understanding the medals were to bring pride to a society!

How do you get started?

  • What can I do?
  • How do I work?
  • What drives me?
  • What do we do?
  • How do we work?
  • What does this team contribute?
  • What are the goals of the company?
  • What is the company culture?
  • What is your collective purpose?
